Swimmin'

I took Casey down to the pond yesterday for a run and a swim.  She needed to burn some energy, or she might not have lived through last night.  I sure like my new camera!

Those floppy ears just crack me up!

Got it Boss!

How 'bout them lips!?!?!?!?

She is an athlete, or nothing at all.

I've been playing with the camera some more this week also.

My tulips are so short this year it's almost pathetic.  I think it's because the spring has been so cool.

This mornings sunrise.  So pretty.

I made a link on pica web albums if you'd like to see more pictures from the pond.  You should be able to click on the link
and go straight to it.  You might have to copy and paste it into  your browser.  Let me know, if you don't mind, which way it works.

Gobble, Gobble!!

I have so much fun calling turkey's............

Getting to pull the trigger is just a bonus!  Tag #1 is full!

Bill said last night that he was going to stay home and he would just fill his turkey tags here.  I told him to make sure it was a biggin'.......When I got home, I asked "Got bird???"  He said, and I quote, "No."

I can't forget a picture of today's beard!  A full 9 inches.
Spurs weren't real impressive, but the beard sure is pretty!

Hog Roast - Maybe the 1st Annual?!?!?

Good company, good food, good drink, good times. We roasted the hog I shot in Texas yesterday and had a great party! The weather wasn't so co-operative, but still a good time was had by all. Everybody just piled into the garage making it a great festive atmosphere to just visit.

Casey practicing her entertaining moves.  I tried to explain to her that this party was not for her "honor".  LOL

Nice day for a B-B-Q.

This grill just won't heat up with all this wind.

Time for plan B.  With a little stacking, all the hog fit on our regular grill!  NOW we're grillin'!

Setting up serving tables.  Who ever invented saw horses deserves a gold star for the day!

This grill is gonna work out just right!

The hog's done.....and it's G-O-O-D!!!!!!!!

All smiles as we're getting ready to eat!

Ken, one of our neighbors.

Brenda and Sharon, more neighbors.

Theresa, our local Realtor (bottom left), her sister, her husband and Marti & Julie, more neighbors.

More friends and neighbors...

Deb and Russ Leatherman, friends of ours.  Don't they make a cute couple?  Oh, and it was Deb's birthday - I'm pretty sure she's finally 21!  (HeeHee!!)

More neighbors and friends.

Wayne is such a goof ball!

Vicki and Don get the prize for driving the farthest......all the way from Torrington, WY.  They must have been really hungry to drive that far for hog and turkey!

Somebody got a hold of the camera and got my picture.  Figured I should post ONE of me.

And this is all that was left this morning.  Didn't even take long to clean up.  My kind of party!

A party is only as good as the people that come and make it a great party!  We have fantastic friends and neighbors and that made for good food, good company, good times.  Can't wait for the next get together!

I Guess All I Do Is Screw Around

Well, yesterday was my last "scheduled" digital photography class.  The instructor is going to try to put a "bonus" class together later in May that hopefully I can make also.  Yesterday we went to Wind Cave and Custer State Park to get outside for some hands on "figuring this thing out".  If I'm going to get serious about this, I probably ought to load my Canon Software onto the computer to really be able to do touch-up work to the photo's but I'm just not sure I'm that serious about it!  So, here's some more sights of South Dakota while I was out "playing with the new camera".

Pasqueflower, South Dakota State Flower

This is a pretty newby buffalo calf.

Can you see the coyote?

Prairie dog.....they won't let you shoot them in Custer State Park.

Lots of buffalo in the park.

So, I took a lot of help from the program I do have on the computer for this one.
It wasn't near so green yesterday.

Playing with the new camera

Been playing with the new camera a little after starting my "Photography Class".  I'm learning; or at least trying!

Sunrise over Bear Butte 4/6/11.
I even used the manual settings on this.  OK, so maybe I'm bragging just a little!

Tom's working out the pecking order 4/5/11 in the back yard.
Again, manual settings, I know it's dark, bear with me....

And the winner of the pecking order.  I'm thinking he would be pretty tasty!
(Auto setting, over exposed just a touch.  See, I AM learning stuff in this class!)

There was a total of 22 toms, hens and jakes.  They just wouldn't get together for a "group shot"!
